Trailers: Get Smart

The international trailer for the remake of the classic crime comedy TV series starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Alan Arkin, and The Rock. Teaser trailer here.

When I was a kid, I used to watch TV Land a lot. ‘Get Smart’ was my favorite show. When I got older I rented that movie ‘The Nude Bomb’ which was horrific to say the least. I also sat on the edge of my seat every night waiting for that ‘Get Smart’ remake with much of the same cast plus Andy Dick to become good. It never did. So I’ve been anticipating this movie for some time now, trying to forget the fact that remake movies are ALWAYS terrible. The teaser was pretty funny, so hopes were high. Even Bill Murray has a small part in here somewhere. But I just can’t get over the fact that this trailer reminds me of Michael Scott from ‘The Office’ playing Agent 86. And most of the supporting cast, excluding Alda and Hathaway, are terrible additions to the team. And where’s Hymie? And why isn’t Thomas Lennon from ‘Reno 911′ Siegfried? He only looks exactly like him. Maybe if Hollywood found some good directors to do remakes, then they wouldn’t suck so bad. When the only good movie you directed was ‘Tommy Boy,’ maybe a few red flags should have been thrown. Anyway, congratulations Hollywood. You’ve done it again. You’re going to make millions at the expense of a great series created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. I’ll be sitting in my apartment eating ramen noodles, watching my childhood crumble, while you’ll be whisked away in your giant jet. Pretty cool jet by the way.

Trailers: Waz

Some serial killer etches the letters WAZ into all his victims. Stellan Skarsgard, Melissa George, Selma Blair.

The detectives in this film consider the algebraic equation that translates into WAZ. I just think it’s the guy’s initials or some cool nickname he got from JV sports.

Trailers: Meet the Browns

Angela Bassett, basketball star Rick Fox, another Tyler Perry movie. A comedy/romance where a single mom takes her family to the funeral of her father.

It has come to my attention that Tyler Perry is some form of anametronic robot that never sleeps and refuels off a legal substance similar in effect to crack cocaine. This man churns out movies. Granted, they’re not very good and usually involve the same plots, but you have to give it up to a man who somehow sells the same pitch over and over again. He’s like Eddie Murphy NOW, with less talent. Not Eddie Murphy THEN. Eddie Murphy THEN was a scholar and general comic genius. Eddie Murphy NOW is, well you know already. Tyler Perry has less talent than that.

Trailers: The Oxford Murders

Elijah Wood, John Hurt. A thriller where a grad student at Oxford University and his professor work together to stop murders with math symbols.

It was pretty shocking to hear that Elijah Wood would be playing a detective-type character. That ended up not being as shocking as the shot of him making out with a girl. My gaydar really missed the boat that time.

Trailers: Meet the Spartans

The second trailer of the movie spoof from Kevin Sorbo aka Hercules, that guy whose been in all those forgettable UPN sitcoms, and Carmen Electra. First one here.

There’s really nothing more to be said other than movies like this are the reason no child needs to be left behind. Or if they show any deformities, they should be left in the sun on a rock.

Trailers: Funny Games

The 2ND red band restricted trailer for the Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Michael Pitt thriller about two men who take a family hostage in their cabin. Another trailer here.

A movie has gotta be pretty screwed up to have TWO red band restricted trailers. This reminds me of that movie ‘The Ref’ with Denis Leary, Kevin Spacey, and that lady that looks like a zombie. I thought that was stupid too.

Flashback: Brokeback Mountain

After taking time to process the untimely demise of Heath Ledger, all of us at A Trailer Park would like to send condolences to family and friends. He was an amazing actor who apparently was also great to his fans. In memory, here’s the trailer for his arguable best performance, ‘Brokeback Mountain.’ If there ever was a tragedy to the film community, today was it.

Trailers: Wild Child

A rebellious rich girl is shipped off to a boarding school by her father. Aidan Quinn, Emma Roberts, Natasha Richardson. A comedy/romance.

Julia Roberts’ niece and Aidan “apparently not dead” Quinn are cast in a poorly written version of ‘Mean Girls.’ This is Hannah Montana’s life if her dad was a good actor and didn’t have a Fu Manchu. Apparently Julia Roberts’ niece gets all her acting talent from her father Eric, or the guy who is Julia Roberts’ sister who you sometime get mistaken for Eric Stoltz even though they look nothing alike. Eric Stoltz also looks kind of like Craig Kilborn with red hair but he’s not usually confused with Eric Roberts who is Julia Roberts’ brother.

Trailers: Sleepwalking

Charlize Theron, AnnaSophia Robb, Nick Stahl, Dennis Hopper, Woody Harrelson. A drama where an 11-year-old girl’s mother abandons her.

Due to ‘North Country’ and ‘Monster,’ it appears Charlize Theron is only looking for roles if they involve being poor white trash.
